From the point of view of Tantra, this part of the mandala receives and contains the strong energies of the universe. Such powers are often recognized by the human being as "wrathful". Yet when they are adequately put into action, these energies are guarantees of survival.
In our perception of matter, the natural element concealing such powers, potentials and threats is water.
Water, constituting the essential and dominant element of all forms of life and being the mythical environment of our origins, is associated in our perception with the abdomen.
The temptation to appropriate for oneself the powers of this chakra will soon result in impulsions of avidity and greed. In addition, the vital sense of these values can become frightening as for the role to play. It then manifests as a distrust regarding the obstacles on the way of one’s projected accomplishment. If this point of view becomes widespread, it often expresses itself as useless
worries. In order to decrease such tensions, Tantra will then propose a return toward the spiritual dimension of all achievements.
