Air / Interpretation

The various subtle elements that we identify as the initial ground of our thoughts manifest to the world inside this "continent".

Our senses recognize the immateriality of such elements and normally associate them to air, which is, at the same time, omnipresent and elusive.

All cultures of the world recognize the head as being the location of these various cognitive functions. These are different from the direct apprehensions of reality, more linked to compassion and, therefore, to fire.

Because of insecurity, humans often tend to want to appropriate such sources of knowledge and to preserve them for their personal use. This attitude, when it becomes a widespread behavior, can generate jealousy. In Tantra, meditations on the path of emptiness and exercises of return toward the body can quickly compensate for these annoyances, for others and for oneself.
